Service Description

Taught by experienced PTs and yoga teachers with backgrounds in pelvic health and therapeutic movement, this workshop is designed for health professionals with & without experience in mind-body approaches who are interested in learning how these practices can be integrated into plans of care to address changes that occur during the developmental-aging process and associated health concerns. Lectures will include a review of the scientific literature that supports the practice of mind-body interventions (MBI) from reducing pain and dysfunction, and improving physical and mental well-being. Lab activities will allow participants to practice postures, breathing, meditation, and mindful movement and apply them to different patient populations. Objectives By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to: - Compare and contrast MBI to traditional therapeutic exercises frequently prescribed for aging individuals and those with health concerns - Compare and contrast normal & pathological changes associated with aging and implications for rehab - Perform & teach movement, breathing and mindfulness practices to enhance patient/client wellness & function - Apply principles of an embodied anatomy approach for survivors of trauma and persons with genitourinary & pelvic disorders
