Service Description

This course will help you change how you think and react to thoughts about yourself, your patients & others in your life. Designed for healthcare professionals, this experiential in-person & live webinar course will teach you how to develop your own mindful practice, apply it to daily life AND integrate mindful strategies into patient care. This course will be taught via 2 six-hour, in-person workshops (Oct 2 & Dec 11) AND 4 two-hour remote, synchronous sessions. The 1st in-person workshop will be used to teach theory and the science of mindfulness along with skill development and practice. During the synchronous, remote sessions, participants will provide feedback about their personal practice of mindfulness and clinical applications. The instructors will provide practical ways of advancing participant skills and facilitate problem-solving in the clinical setting. The 2nd in-person workshop will include the explanation and practice of new skills and strategies with opportunities for practice and reflections. The remote sessions are offered on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, approximately every other week ( Oct 12 or 13; Oct 26 or 27; Nov 9 or 10; Nov 30 or Dec 1). Participants have the option to attend EITHER weekly session and can attend a Wednesday session some weeks and a Thursday session other weeks. However, attendance at the 2 in-person workshops AND 4 remote sessions is required, as no partial CE credit can be given. By the end of this course, participants will be able to; -Define mindfullness concepts -Develop & practice strategies & techniques that promote mindfulness -Practice mindfulness for personal & professional development -Appraise the scientific literature on mindfulness in health care -Incorporate mindfulness practices into patient/client plans of care -Integrate principles of ACT and MI into clinical practice
