Service Description

Sleep is not a luxury. It is a biological imperative. Even though sleep disturbance is common among people with chronic MSK pain and in many neurological and aging populations, sleep is often overlooked in rehab. This retreat equips rehab professionals with the neuroscience, clinical frameworks, and practical tools to integrate sleep-informed care into clinical practice. Participants will explore sleep architecture, circadian biology, the bidirectional sleep-pain relationship, and the clinical implications of poor sleep for recovery, learning, participation, and quality of life. The program combines didactic sessions with experiential labs featuring evidence-informed yoga practices, including asana, pranayama, mindfulness, Yoga Nidra, and iRest. Clinicians will learn to screen for sleep concerns within their scope of practice, identify red flags that require referral, and develop practical, patient-centered strategies for immediate use in rehab and wellness settings. All of this unfolds in a retreat-style setting at a charming Southern Vermont country inn, with comfortable accommodations, shared meals, time for rest and reflection, and opportunities to experience the very practices being taught. Come to The Landgrove to learn how to help your patients sleep better. Stay because you deserve rest, too. Approved by the NJSBPTE for 19 CEs Educational Objectives By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to: 1. Describe the basic physiology of sleep architecture, circadian rhythm, and autonomic regulation related to rehab outcomes 2. Explain the bidirectional relationship between sleep disturbance, chronic pain, emotional regulation, tissue healing, cognition, and daily activities 3. Use sleep-related terminology and outcome measures (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS)) and sleep diaries, to support screening and clinical reasoning 4. Develop individualized, patient-centered care strategies that integrate sleep education, self-regulation practices, and referral pathways The workshop is held at The Landgrove Studio and Inn, 132 Landgrove Road, Landgrove, VT. Room-and-board rates start at $285/night for single occupancy and $390/night for double occupancy. Rates include lodging, meals, and gratuity. Double occupancy includes meals for both guests. Meals are shared communally as part of the retreat experience. Rates are set by The Landgrove and may vary by room and availability.
