Service Description

This continuing education workshop offers healthcare professionals evidence-based strategies for working with clients facing perimenopause, menopause, and age-related changes. Through a unique blend of scientific knowledge, humor, and practical yoga-based interventions, participants will acquire a comprehensive understanding of the complex physiological, cognitive, and emotional changes that occur during these life transitions. This hands-on program combines didactic sessions with experiential labs, teaching healthcare providers how to differentiate between menopausal symptoms and normal aging processes while developing targeted, client-centered treatment approaches. Participants will learn to utilize evidence-based yoga practices, breathing techniques, and mindfulness strategies to address common concerns, including cognitive changes, musculoskeletal complaints, cardiovascular health, sleep disturbances, pelvic floor issues, and balance deficits. Through interactive discussions and practical laboratories, clinicians will leave equipped with tools to enhance their practice and better serve this population. Educational Objectives By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to: 1. Differentiate between symptoms associated with perimenopause and menopause versus those related to normal aging processes across multiple body systems. 2. Implement evidence-based yoga interventions, including specific asanas, pranayama techniques, and mindfulness practices, to manage common perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms, as well as physiological changes associated with the normal aging process. 3. Assess current research on hormone replacement therapy and other therapeutic approaches to develop informed care plans for clients navigating menopause. 4. Develop care plans that incorporate pelvic floor health, balance training, cardiovascular conditioning, and bone health strategies specifically tailored for perimenopausal, menopausal, and aging individuals, combining both traditional healthcare approaches with yoga-based interventions.
